Group Classes -  Fly Fishing for Winter & Summer Steelhead


Some consider steelhead to be the ultimate freshwater gamefish on a fly. The American River is the perfect place to catch them. In this class will we cover important information needed to fish for winter/summer steelhead including spey and single hand techniques, equipment, presentations, river access, etiquette, species biology and much more! Class will be held in classroom setting and on the American River. After attending this class students will be able to pursue these incredible fish anywhere on the West Coast.


Class Schedule


Class Length: 5 hours
Meeting Place: TBA
Equipment Needed: Note Pad and pen or pencil.  If you'd like to fish after the class you'll need the following gear: Fly rod and reel outfit #6-#8 weight rod, floating and or sinking tip fly line (10-15' Type 3 or faster), or shooting heads, leaders (9’ 1X-2X), steelhead flies, waders and valid 2017 fishing license with Steelhead Report Card.

Class Fees: $ 75.00 per person

           Lesson begins at 9:30am at TBA and will conclude on the American River at 3pm.



Private lessons are also available, call for rates and appointment.

Payment/Cancellation Policy: Class must be paid for in full 14 days before the class date. Arrangements can be made for signups within the 14 day period. Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the class date will receive a full refund if paying check or cash. A 5% credit card processing fee will be charged on all credit card refunds. Cancellations made within 14 days of the class date will forfeit their full payment unless that space is filled.
